An Island Summer

June 7, 2019

We are in full bloom here at Dental Care of Vashon! If you’ve passed us on the highway you’ve probably noticed how beautiful our yard is; with purple, pink, red and white flowers, we are truly blessed to have such a nice space. The hummingbirds seem to agree, as they visit us throughout the day to collect nectar from the budding flowers.  This time of year, island living is easy and we want to share some of our favorite summer activities and traditions with you.

This time of year the island starts to glow with nature’s beauty. The trees and plants are happy and full of life, making everything a beautiful shade of green. Vashon has so many beaches, parks and trails it’s easy to get out and enjoy the outdoors. This summer our Hygiene coordinator, Molly, plans on spending as much time outside as possible!  The viewpoint hike is one of her favorites, but she also loves hiking in Island Center Forest.  Jensen Park offers Kayak and paddle board rentals; she plans to take advantage of this on a nice hot summer day. Wanda, one of our hygienists, also enjoys getting outside. Her family plans on taking a trip off-Island to Lake Tahoe this summer. They will rent a house on the lake and do some hiking day trips in the area.  Dr. Dimova also plans on spending some time off-Island this summer. She will travel to Europe to get in some much needed time with her sister.  We are excited to hear back about her worldly travels.

Both of our dental assistants, Hannah and Christina, have a strong love for animals. Christina grew up with an old sheep sheepdog Chumlee. She is very much looking forward to attending The Annual Sheepdog Classic here on the island this June.  Misty Isle Farm is such a beautiful place with rolling green hills; she is really hoping the weather holds up.  This summer will be Hannah’s first on the island. She plans on soaking in all summer’s beauty with her friends and beloved dog; Min.  He is a rescue dog from Iran and makes her family whole.

Our office will be taking some time off this July. We will be closed July, 1th through July, 5th to celebrate America’s independence.  This is Kayla, our office manager’s favorite time of the year.  As always she plans to celebrate with her closest friends and family BBQ style.  We will also be closed Friday, July 19th in preparation for Strawberry Festival weekend.  We all are very excited to see what this year’s festival has to offer!

We look forward to soaking up all the sun rays and enjoying all the PNW has to offer this summer.  We are always looking for new and fun activities around the island, so please share your favorites with us!
