Team Building

March 28, 2019

The New Year is off to a full sprint here at Dental Care of Vashon! With most insurance benefits resetting in January our team has been working harder than ever. Our number one goal is to provide our patients with the highest quality care. With many helpful hands, we make quick work of a busy schedule. From our front desk staff to our assistants, hygienists and doctors, we want to be an inspiration to other dental teams. This year we are focusing on building our team even more. Despite spending 8 hours a day with each other, it can be hard to get to know your coworkers. With patient care coming first it can be so easy to get caught up in the day to day grind of work but it’s important that we take some time as a team to grow.  We want to share some of the ways we connect as a team.

We really have a great team here and we genuinely enjoy each other’s company! Whether it’s celebrating a birthday or a small personal victory; we make sure our staff knows they are appreciated.  Over these past few months we have had quite a few birthdays in the office. We always enjoy celebrating with a pot luck, and we really have some great cooks in the office. Kayla’s artichoke dip is a real treat! We also have some real comedians around here; you’ll often hear laughter filling the office.  Christina is known for her one liners. One of the fun team building activities we’ve started is a little friendly “floss challenge” competition. Wanda is our reigning champ right now and is awaiting her next challenger. You may have seen this video on Facebook, be sure to look out for the challenger video!  In the upcoming month we have planned a dinner out together. We are excited about spending some time together outside of work.

Team building isn’t all fun and games though. There are some circumstances that require a serious team effort, and we want to be ready when these occasions arise.  This year we have implemented a random monthly emergency drill. These drills can include anything from a performing CPR, administering an EpiPen or even using an AED. This way when a patient emergency does arise we are truly ready. So rest assured you are in safe hands here at Dental Care of Vashon.

We are blessed to have such a great staff, and we hope our patients can feel our sense of community here.  Working together we have really accomplished great things and are excited to continue to grow as a team.
